Sierra Express Media (SEM) does not only maintain its newspaper establishment in Sierra Leone, but publishes also an on-line version that is contesting all modesty and ranks as one of the better, if not the best in the provision of news, opinions, views and comments emanating from Sierra Leone – not boasting anyway.
As an independent media, SEM is operating under a condition in an arena where the press has seemingly been divided into a partisan angle. Not that it is limiting those who have opted to be truly independent and fair but it shares a common interest of all shades of opinions.
At SEM, we are transparent, fair in our operations, maintain the truth, and manifest a concern for the underprivileged and the unknown.
In carrying out this function, we have maintained as our guardian principle the opportunity for all to air their views inasmuch as it borders on the respect for law and order, while not infringing on the rights of other people’s opinions and beliefs.
SEM has gone through its own phase of development from the days of sleeping in commercial printing presses to that of a single computer being carted around to escape the repeated problems of electrical failure.
Beyond all reasonable doubts, SEM has made a great leap. As stated in Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart: “The lizard that falls from the high Iroko tree will praise itself if no one else does.”
We are therefore calling on our readers to continue to give their usual support to us the new Editorial Team as we chart a new passage for you in the road to quality news and information as well as entertainment sport and opinions.
As we enter an election year, our focus is on ensuring that we have a peaceful nation with the citizenry adhering to the tenets of democracy and good governance.
