NDA – a force to reckon with Bah tells SLBC

One of the aspirants for the leadership of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) party, Mohamed C. Bah on Tuesday February 28, 2012 told the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) that his party is a force to reckon with for the November 17th Presidential, Parliamentary and local council elections. Bah said that the party will be conducting its national delegate conference from April 13-15 in the southern city of Bo where national executive officers will be manning the affairs of the party for the next five years.

With regards to the minor disputes among some party members, he said: “political parties are always bound to have differences and our goal is to resolve it with a clear focus in preparing for the general election,” presidential aspirant Bah disclosed that a mediation committee has been set up to address the issues.

He said that the NDA is the most inclusive party in Sierra Leone that has been in existence for the past sixteen years. Regarding the ongoing Biometric voter registration exercise, Bah said that its party needs some clarification from the Supreme Court to address the issue of resident. He also said there is a need to increase the machines in the registration centers to facilitate a speedy process.

Bah expressed disappointment that some people have taken the election as a do or die affair, stressing that people must see themselves as responsible Sierra Leoneans to do things in a very peaceful and responsible manner.

For the past fifty years, Bah recalled, the country has continued to take a nose dive, referring to youth unemployment, water supply inadequacies, 80% concentration of electricity only in Freetown, and the poor performance of the national economy, as some of the major problems facing the country.

“I have a different vision for Sierra Leone and if I am fortunate to be elected as the flag bearer at the April convention, I will bring a unique solution to solving our national problems,” presidential aspirant Bah concluded.
