Health Ministry launches partnership initiative
The Ministry of Health yesterday launched a partnership for safe medicines initiative in Sierra Leone at the Miatta Conference Hall at Youyi building, Freetown.
In her measurement, Mrs. Matron Roselyn Momoh said the Ministry of Health carries the responsibility of providing safe and curable medicines for society.
The Registrar Sierra Leone Medical and Dental Council, in his statement told representatives of respective organizations and agencies that over 5,000 people have died due to the use of fake drugs.
He said it is pressing nevertheless that government unfailingly supports the Ministry of Health in its strides to provide safe and curable drugs to people of Sierra Leone.
He urged respective donor partners to come to the aid of her Ministry in the provision of safe drugs for all.
On behalf of President Koroma, the Minister of Health and Sanitation, Madam Zainab Bangura, encouraged citizens to join her Ministry work for the benefit of Sierra Leonean children.
“My Ministry has put materials in place to see that society’s expectations are met unfailing,” the Minister said.
“If we have the collaboration of the public it is sure we shall effectively and positively meet to the challenges ahead of us.”
The launching ceremony saw contributions from various government Ministries, agencies, and stakeholders of society. The private sector was also represented.
