8 arrested for murdering native doctor
Alieu Dumbuya, a local doctor in Songo village, Port-Loko District, last week was reportedly strangled to death by an unknown gang in the bushes around the town.
Masiaka police department has told this press that the murder of Alieu is under investigation and that 8 suspects are currently with them helping in the investigation.
The murder, Masiaka police said, reportedly took place at a bush around Songo village Sunday December 3rd.
“Personnel of Songo police post initiated the investigation, but later transferred the matter to us (Masiaka police) being its Divisional headquarters for further investigation,” Inspector Mondeh said.
It is disclosed that the corpse of Alieu was found lying on the road leading to Songo village.
Even though the police refused giving the names of all 8 suspects, sources say however that the postmortem result has proved that the deceased was strangled and murdered in cold blood.
The postmortem exercise on the deceased was done on 6th December at the Connaught Hospital, Freetown.
“We know Alieu’s death is indeed not a normal cause,” Inspector Mondeh told our reporter.
“We’ve got 8 suspects in our custody helping us in our investigation.”
