As Usu Boie storms SLPP office …hundreds cheer him
Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara, one time flagbearer aspirant for Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) yesterday paid an impromptu visit to his party’s head office; and hundreds of party supporters excitedly came to cheer.
The visit nevertheless sparked debate from a number of SLPP supporters, who, consequent to the arrival of Usman Boie, stated they received rumours that he intended to hold a meeting with top party officials at the SLPP HQ.
However, the faces of supporters turned to smiles when eventually it was told that the visit of the SLPP big man was rather all a ‘courtesy call’ to see how the party’s head office looked.
It is reported that Usman Boie had fruitful discussions with a cross section of the SLPP Big Men, National Secretary General- Sulaiman Banja Tejansie, Regional Secretary General – Mahaj Tajudeen, Stakeholder – Amb- Allieu Kanu, Legal Adviser – Lawyer Hindolo Gaevao, Admin Secretary national – Alhaji Brima Koroma and the Deputy Leader, Chief Sumanu Kapel, to name but a few.
It could be recalled that Usman Boie was out of the country on a visit to UK, Holland, and the United States, but returned quite recently.
Albeit speculations that his visit to the SLPP office was to hold meeting with persons loyal to him, things turned the other way, as he was seen reassuring party officials and supporters that the SLPP is still his political baby.
Just when the appointment of Kadi Sesay as running mate was announced, it was speculated that Usman Boie and other top SLPP members may call it quits.
But his visit at the SLPP office allays the fear of a number of supporters that he, unlike others, isis tightly fit to his political party – the SLPP.
Hundreds of SLPP faithful were observed cheering on Usman Boie, thus respectfully name-tagging him as their ‘leader’ just as they do to Maada Bio.
Dressed in blue suit, Usman Boie self assuredly told the sizeable number of SLPP supporters at the SLPP HQ that his presence at the office is to prove to the world that he is indeed SLPP.
Unconfirmed information has it that while Usman Boie talked with top SLPP executive in a closed door session, he spoke with the party’s Presidential candidate, Maada Bio, and the SLPP National Leader and Chairman, John Oponjo Benjamin, via telephone.
As Usman Boie made his exit from the SLPP HQ, scores of SLPP tycoons were observed flooding the office to see and interact with the forenamed SLPP magnate.
