Leaks have it that President Koroma has resolved appointing Diana Konomanyi as his running mate for the 2012 elections.  (Photo: Diana Konomanyi anticipated APC running mate, and HE President Ernest Bai Koroma)

It has reached this press that President Koroma has a narrow choice in his appointment of a running mate for the coming elections. He is reportedly in a confused and indeterminate state.

Consequently, and inspite of speculations that it was the President’s intention to appoint the Minister of Internal Affairs as running mate, it has reached this press that Diana Konomanyi has been ticked as the obvious choice.

It is a fact that Musa Tarawally was dropped from becoming President Koroma’s running mate on grounds that illustrate his repeated participation in alleged brutalities.

Diana, our findings revealed, is disliked by the Konos. She is seen by residents of Kono as impolite and pretentious.

An APC executive, who asked for his name not to be mentioned, said nevertheless that inspite of the excellent performances of the current Vice President, some APC executives including Ministers, have had restless moment castigating the Vice President to his boss.

It is revealed also that President Koroma considers appointing Diana (a descendant of Kono District) because he intends not giving his Vice President a second chance, but also does not want to lose votes from Kono in 2012.

The appointment of Vice President Sam Sumana as running mate in 2007 was without doubt, the reasons that lead to APC’s election victory.

The imaginary appointment of Diana as President Koroma’s next running mate may again and again impede APC’s success in 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

It could be recalled that the appointment of number of south-easterners as Ministers in the cabinet of the governing APC party was purposely to break ranks in strongholds of the opposition SLPP party come 2012.

Joseph Bandabla Dauda, who doubles as the current Minister of Foreign Affairs, was appointed Minister on grounds depicting his popularity in the east part of Sierra Leone.

Public’s assessment indicates that the Konos have vowed not voting for the APC had Vice President Sam Sumana not been given a second chance.

It is told, however, that the Konos have said that they are comfortable with VP Sam Sumana and without him as President Koroma’s running mate, there is no vote for the APC in Kono.
