Investigate Diana Konomanyi over Kono unrest

While the nation awaits the outcome of the Shears Moses Commission of Enquiry recommendations, which preceded the Kono and Bo political episodes, the people of Kono and other concern citizens nationwide would like to know the fate of Diana Konomanyi relating to the recent unfortunate incident in Kono.

It is common knowledge among the Kono community that those who have been detained at the Pademba Road Prison from Kono are known to be hard core APC thugs in many instances.

Names like Adamu, a Sierra Leonean by birth but of Nigeria descent and Counselor T. Boy Kaingbanja as principal suspects of what happened in Kono have featured very prominently in bye-election campaigns in the east. The bye-election in Tongo was characterized by senior upheavals leading to the burning of houses where Adamu was not only named but also seen in active operation, with harmful weapons.

The situation in Tongo, Pujehun and the attack on SLPP office necessitated the appointment of the Shears Moses Commission which white paper is still under the carpet.

Our source from Kono revealed that the incident in Kono has two chapters. First chapter was the invitation of Madam Diana Konomanyi extended to Musa Tarawally who went with a very large entourage to talk and grease palms with stake holders so as to win the hearts and minds of Kono and beyond for him to become running mate to President Koroma for 2012 parliamentary and presidential elections.

The second chapter was the leakage of the information to Vice President Sam Sumana and the subsequent command given to Adamu and T. Boy Kaingbanja to obstruct the visit of Musa Tarawally in Kono and if possible attack him and his entourage which was carried out.

The same source revealed that while the attack was in progress at gun point in Koidu town Diana Konomanyi organized a multitude of thugs at her residence to counter any form of negative approach on Musa Tarawally. These two factors from within the same political parts created sensation and pandemonium leading to damage of property owned by peaceful citizens who had little or no knowledge about the visit of Musa Tarawally.

Against this background, one may be tempted to ask as to who bears the greatest responsibility of the sporadic shooting in Koidu city.

Musa Tarawally was Madam Diana Konomanyi’s guest as far as the visit was concerned. The arrest and detention of Adamu, Counselor T. Boy Kaingbanja and others is justifiable but the fact remains that those detained may have been influenced by the political actors, Diana and V.P Sam Sumana.  Madam Dianna Konomanyei who is said to be in social league with Musa Tarawally cannot easily escape the chains of the legal system in this country.

If a sitting member of parliament has been arrested and detained for similar offences in the Bo incident there is sufficient room for Madam Diana Konomanyi local council District Chairperson to face the same music.

Nobody is above the law. People are yearning to know the next team of suspects of the Shears Moses commission but at the same time the Kono and Bo attacks should not be treated with selective justice.

In this regard, Madam Konomanyi should be investigated to enable the public to know how this all happened because it was she who invited Musa Tarawally, whether this was meant to embarrass Musa Tarawally or an attempt to unseat Sam Sumana as running mate for 2012 the people want to know those behind the scenes.
