Both teams are leading group A and B with four points and will respectively face Kolenten Rovers and Diamond FC in today’s early kick-off at the Wusum ground in Makeni and the Magbruka town field.
For Gem Stars coach, Soccoh Arun Kabia who watched his boys drew goalless with FC Johansen in their second match, the three points is a must for them to ease the pressure of missing out to progress to the quarter-final.
He said: “I was disappointed not to secure maximum points against FC Johansen but never the less, we played well but it was unfortunate for us not to get a goal that is why we need the all three points from this match.”
A win could put Gem Stars in a comfortable position for the quarter-finals as they will settle with seven points and two matches to play.
At the same venue in Makeni, FC Johansen must do all they can to secure their first win in the competition after gaining two points from two draws, they will take on a pointless Wanjama Stars who lost their open clash against Gem Stars.
At the Magbruka town field, the Soccer Ambassadors, Real Republicans have to overcome Diamond FC to move a step closer of securing a quarter-final spot.
Whilst the second match at the same venue will involve Kawula FC and Bai Bureh Warriors.
Meanwhile, Kolenten Rovers had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Buck FC in their opening group A clash in Makeni on Monday, whilst Anti-Drugs Strikers defeated Dalarosa FC 1-0 the same day in Magburaka.
The second clash of the day saw Bai Bureh Warriors forced Real Republicans to a 1-1 draw.
