Government Ministers thrash SLPP lies

Sequel to newspaper reports that the local ‘kamajor’ militia is regrouping for   2012, in which both the Resident Minister South and the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security were entangled is now seen as unfounded, unfortunate and a deliberate ploy by the opposition SLPP to assassinate their hard won image while exposing the ministers to public scorn. The allegation that both ministers of government are fostering plans to revamp the local militia was met with stiff resistance even from the various paramount chiefs that were present in the meeting that as held in the Mattru Jong court, Bonthe District. According to some of the attendants of the said meeting, the purpose was to organize the ex-fighters into a Community Base Organisation in order to gain from the World Bank funded Cash for work component that is being implemented by NacSA.

Interviews conducted by this press confirmed that the Resident Minister South, Mr. Moijeh Kaikai was an invitee to the meeting so as to subsequently transmit resolutions of the same to government for prompt action.

While it was also confirmed that the Deputy Minister of Labour Mr. Syl Kabba was conspicuously  absent from the said meeting, other prominent stakeholders present includes the ONS officer in Bonthe, Mr Nabieu Kamara, a host of paramount chiefs who were also Kamajor fighters and other well meaning indigenes across the District.

Our police sources further confirmed that a police clearance was obtained and their presence was highly felt at the meeting.

The ex–kamajor fighters maintained that the resident minister could not have been ignored because highlights of the meeting were to request government assistance in several issues including the burial of their late colleague kamajors who lost their lives during the eleven years of civil butchery, so that families of the deceased could still feel a belonging to a society that claimed the lives of their loved ones.

When this medium contacted Minister Moijeh Kaikai via telephone, he vehemently trashed the allegation saying “I am aware that such fabricated lies are the handy work of former SLPP scribe JJ Saffa.  I grew up in the same village with Jacob and he has always exhibited jealousy of my achievements.  He is fun of cooking up lies against me,” Kaikai asserted.

The Minister further stressed that the ex-kamajor members have remained peaceful ever since they were demobilized and they also reserve the right to benefit from development programmes as long as they are well organized.

“Inspite of the these unfounded allegations, kamajor is synonymous to SLPP,  I see no reason why they should be jittery over their own very loyalists,” Kaikai reaffirmed.

However, the Deputy Minister of Labour also considers the allegation as a merely fabricated lie but rather confirmed to this press that he never darkened his shadow at the meeting ground.
