Bafana Coach Mosimane hails Leone Stars as Group G ‘Black Horse’
South Africa’s Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane (photo) insists Leone Stars is the ‘black horse’ of Group G, in the just concluded Nations Cup qualifiers.
Responding to questions during a post-match press conference after last Saturday’s final Group G 2012 Nations Cup qualifier against Sierra Leone in Nelspruit South Africa he said: “Leone Stars are a good and strong team with good strikers who have the potential to break any defense and score a goal at any time.”
Pitso Mosimane, who sometime last year when his team visited Sierra Leone to honour an away Africa Cup of Nations 2012 fixture described Leone Stars as the black horse in the group continued: “Leone Stars have a strong team and a bright future. Yes, I said it the last time we played in Sierra Leone and I still maintain that.”
Coach Mosimane however added that one of the factors why Leone Stars are not experiencing the great potential of the players is the pitch at the National Stadium in Freetown.
“If Sierra Leone should have got the kind of football pitch we have here in South Africa, I am pretty confident the sky will be their limit,” said he.
He visibly expressed his respect for Leone Stars in the press conference, noting further the team has all it takes to be in next year’s Nations Cup finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
He said: “if you had won your home match against Niger in Freetown definitely you would have been to Gabon and Equatorial Guinea for the 2012 Nations Cup finals.”
