WAEC examination malpractices exposed – Sapateh’s act stuns journalist

It has been confirmed that some WAEC officials have had seize less moments dubiously overindulging into examination malpractices nay selling grades to pupils that took the government Western African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for the 2010- 2011 academic year.

Disclosures are that WAEC officials have been receiving monies from pupils currently taking the private WASSCE exams.

Facts also have it that the recently released government WASSCE results were marred with extreme fraud.

That results of a considerable number of pupils were withheld pending investigation of suspected foul play.

Disheartening though was WAEC’s boss Sheriff Sapateh’s comments to Sierra Express Media concerning uncomplimentary contention that officials of WAEC have formed an unwholesome cabal to deceitfully receive monies from pupils/parents and in turn give them good grades.

“If you want to talk to me, come to my office,” WAEC’s boss Sapateh said.  “If  see me fine, but if you don’t that’s your business.”

“I have lot more issues to discuss anyhow.  Thank you…  phone switched off.”

Investigations by this press proved that results withheld as a result of examination cheat signposts serious fraud.

Notwithstanding government’s efforts in the improvement of education, unscrupulous WAEC officials are reportedly engaged in the encouragement of pupils/parents in the payment of money for grades.

It could be recalled that Sierra Leone which used to enjoy great compliment in the area of education, has in the recent past, fallen below average due to ill-mannered attitudes of corrupt education officials.

Sparkling disclosures have it that WAEC officials are repeatedly in the act of collecting monies from candidates now undertaking the private WASSCE examinations.

Public’s evaluation calls the act of selling grades to undeserving pupils as uncalled for and unpatriotic, and therefore asked that the Anti-Corruption Commission investigate such an allegation.
