Over sub-standard roads PMDC blasts APC

Bamidele Thompson (photo) of the opposition Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) party has blasted the ruling All People Congress (APC) party government for making bogus and unproven clamour over sub-standard roads currently under construction.  (Photo credit: Awareness Times)

He said however that roads presently under rehabilitation in Freetown remain sub-standard.

The PMDC big man blamed government of wastefully spending plenty money on the rehabilitation of roads, yet nothing good has come out of it.

“The roads rehabilitation projects should have been carried out section by section if it is to result” Bamidele said.

“I bet,” he continued, “the APC would surely not finish the road projects even as Sierra Leoneans get to the polls in late 2012.”

He cited electricity, which he said is what the APC boasts of, as ‘undependable,’ adding that, ‘the APC hasn’t much to pride itself of in terms of development. As for agriculture, it is a total failure.”

It could be recalled that top officials of the ruling APC, a number of times, have had moments of pleasure proudly and boastfully telling Sierra Leoneans that their government has achieved in the area of power supply, health and agriculture.

That the APC, in four years, has constructed four lane roads in Freetown and has provided 24 hours light for city residents.

Findings by this press indicate that roads under construction particularly in Freetown have a long way to go to reach completion.

Neither the Wilkinson, Wilberforce, Goderich or Congo Cross roads will be completed in 2011 nor 2012 respectively.
