2012: VP Sam Sumana worried

Owing to happenings from within ranks of the ruling All People Congress (APC) party, the Vice President of the Republic Sierra Leone is reportedly a worried man.

A State House source has disclosed to this press that Vice President Sam Sumana (photo) has up till now not received a word from President Koroma regarding the ‘September 3rd Kono shooting’ which by way of understanding was caused by the Minister of Internal Affairs Musa Tarawally.

It has also been nakedly revealed that Ministers in the President Koroma’s government have had unquestioned moments doing things to the disrespect of Vice President Sam Sumana.

Investigation has it that the Minister of Sport, Paul Kamara, walked off a meeting called upon and held at the office of the Vice President supposedly a day to the football encounter between Egypt and Sierra Leone in Freetown.

It could be recalled that days to the Egypt Vs Sierra Leone football encounter, there was confusion linking the Minister of Sport and membership of the Sierra Leone Football Association.

The Vice President, we are told, later called on the parties concerned to hopefully resolve the matter, but failed owing to ‘walk off’ action of the Sport Minister just when the meeting was at its peak.

Leaks from within ranks of the APC have it blatant that the Vice President is worried over ensuing and uncalled for happenings directed at him by mostly cabinet members of his party.

It must be noted that the Kono shooting, which in itself was tagged as a ‘campaign trip’ and devised by the Minister of Internal Affairs, is apparently a pointer that President Koroma pay lesser or no thought to the office of Vice President anymore.

Sources say nevertheless that the Minister of Internal Affairs is an inferior to the Vice President, and must have been subjected to serious discipline for alighting unrest and subjecting Kono youths into a state of fright thus authorizing armed police officers shoot at unarmed youths.

Public’s suggestions linked President Koroma to unending media contemplation that he intends appointing the current Minister of Internal Affairs as his next running mate.

  • The main aim of all political parties is to win and election and then embark on development which is APC characteristic. How to win becomes strategic in nature. The APC/Kono strategy is a winning coalition with a landslide victory, while The SLPP/Kono strategy is a losing coalition. There is no need for him to worry since he will deliver Kono to APC for a landslide to avoid the 32-32 scenario of age. He is now the father-figure of Kono. All other permutations are not as certain as this one.
