Business people cry over price control

Sierra Leoneans especially business people have had discouragement over the uncontrolled increase of the price of basic commodities in the country.

Findings by this press point up blatant that since APC’s taking over of governance in 2007, prices of basic commodities have been observed flying above expectation.

To the APC, it was all the advent of the global recession. That the prices of rice, cooking ingredients and locally produced items including fuel oil sky rocketed due to the global surge.

People in the business world have observed with dismay that countries in Africa and within the sub- region have longed reached at strategies suppressing the acclaimed global surge nay lowering the prices of market commodities and fuel to meet citizens expectation and reflect national standards.

Notwithstanding the economic successes of other African countries, they said, Sierra Leone still plunges into an untold, uncalled for and unexplained hardship consequently allowing the prices of basic commodities and fuel oil trek up unchecked.

They however maintained that almost 80% of homes in Freetown are unable to cater for a meal a day not to say the usual 3 meals a day.

“It is an observable fact that good number of Sierra Leoneans used the word ‘global’ in place of hardship. That they do so to mockingly reflect government unreasonable and frequently used of the word ‘global’ to fool Sierra Leoneans that the hardship is world problem, Madam Zainab Conteh said.
