Airtel launches site in Mabonto

The best telecommunication company in Sierra Leone has again launched another site at Mabonto village in the northern Tonkolili District

The company’s Managing Director RVS Bhullah said that the launch of a new site is always a great occasion for the Airtel family.  He pointed out  that Airtel aims to be the most loved brand in the lives of African people by 2015 and through the expansion of its network the company is ensuring that they are on the right track to achieve this.

Bhullah furthered that the erection of the site in Mabonto now means that the surrounding areas of Maforika, Simria and Futani are also covered and people in communities within these areas can now communicate with the rest of the world.  He maintained that, “We at Airtel are proud of our achievement and we are determined to bring first class modern telecommunications to the doorstep of every Sierra Leonean”. The Managing Director then welcomed the people of Mabonto and its environs to the Airtel family where they will enjoy world class quality services at affordable rates adding that Airtel’s continued investment in Sierra Leone confirms the company’s commitment to improving the lives of the communities in which it operates.

Paramount Chief Alimamy Bangura II expressed gratitude to Airtel for such an opportunity to communicate with the rest of the world and recalled that since his coronation on the 5th February 1971 his people have not had the opportunity to connect with the global village and therefore heaped praises on the mobile operators for their laudable venture.

Youth Leader Tamba Timbo commended Airtel for bringing ‘light’ into Mabonto village. He requested that everyone must join hands to promote communication in the village by subscribing to Airtel while women’s leader Madam Sarah Bangura expressed thanks to God for the venture and prayed that Airtel continues its developmental strides in the country.

Councilor Sesay revealed that Mabonto village was in slavery but Airtel has revived it again. He disclosed that he had once missed an important meeting because of lack of communication and thanked Airtel because he believes that he will never miss a meeting again with Airtel at the helm of affairs.  Secretary General of the Tonkolili Progressive Union Alhaji. A.K. Bangura noted that Airtel has redeemed Mabonto of communication. He appealed to Airtel to reach out to every part of the northern region for proper communication.

Commissioner Kabbia, who gave a brief history about Mabonto village, said that mobile phones reduce stress and make communication easier. He advised the people of Mabonto to take proper care of the site to expect more from Airtel.  He announced a scholarship for 20 children on behalf of Natcom.

Alhaji D.Kamara resident minister assured the Airtel family that they will put this kind gesture into proper use.

Hon Ibrahim B. Kargbo Minister of Information and Communication assured the people of Mabonto of a new beginning and therefore wants cooperation from Mabonto to Airtel as to enable them to benefit more. He said that their government is also embarking on private sector enhancement as Airtel has done.

Presentation of gifts and celebrations formed the highlights of the event.
