Mercury International gives SWASAL Le 7.67 M For Leone Stars versus Pharaohs of Egypt match
Mercury International (SL) Ltd. on Thursday 1st September 2011 at their 19 Siaka Stevens Street Headquarters in Freetown gave the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) the sum of 7,670,000 Million Leones to enable the association cover fully the 2012 Nations Cup re-turn leg qualifying match between Leone Stars of Sierra Leone and The Pharaohs of Egypt on Saturday 3rd September 2011, at the National Stadium in Freetown at 4:30 GMT.
The money is to facilitate live radio match commentary across the entire country; purchase of scratch card and sim packs for the commentary; stipends to few radio stations and commentators; transportation and refreshment for match analysts and other administrative expenses.
SWASAL has sent out letters to mangers of the few radio stations informing them accordingly about the details of how to bring the said match to the door steps of every Sierra Leonean, and the stipend they will receive for their services.
It can be recalled Mercury International (SL) Ltd. started to partner with SWASAL since the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and since then, the company continues to solely sponsor fully the association to cover all past four matches (both home and away) our darling Leone Stars have played in the ongoing 2012 Nations Cup qualifier.
SWASAL wishes to thank the entire Board of Directors, Management and staff of Mercury International (SL) Ltd. for the laudable gesture, and those radio stations and newspapers that continue to support the association in its drive to promote sports in Sierra Leone.
