LAJ stops tour for Ramadan
Award winning rapper LAJ (Alhaji Bankaria Bah) has cut short his European tour and recording of upcoming projects to observe the Holy month of Ramadan.
The ‘Money Na Bank’ star tells Salonejamboree that the Holy month of Ramadan is his favorite in the Islamic calendar.
“Ramadan is my favorite month. This is the month that I feel a special connection to Allah. Therefore, I have suspended every show and recording just to observe the fast month,” he tells Salonejamboree on Thursday night via telephone interview from Maryland, USA.
Furthermore, LAJ says that he hails from a Muslim family. “Almost every member of my family is a Muslim and therefore we tried as much as possible to observe the laws of this religion.”
The 2011 SLMTV Best Hip Hop rapper says, contrary to rumors that he (LAJ) could not travel to US because of alleged crimes committed in US, he left Holland for US purposely to observe the Ramadan month.
However, LAJ says it is extremely difficult to observe the holy month especially for celebrities like him and more so in America. “We are faced with many distractions especially in a place like America but we do our best to keep the month holy.”
Meanwhile, LAJ says he is not coming back to Sierra Leone soon. “I have lots of work on my table at the moment. The RFM/Cathouse mix tape compilation is on the works and will be launched at the end of the year. Fans should expect me in Sierra Leone late December this year.”
LAJ says after the end of Ramadan, he intends to continue on his worldwide tour.
Ramadan is the 9th month in the Islamic calendar. Muslims believe that if the month is observed very well their sins will be forgiven.
