Rokel agricultural school in extortion scam
Management and teachers of the Rokel Agriculture Secondary School in the Rokel Village Community in the Western Rural District have been accused of extorting money from parents.
The parents who spoke to Sierra Express Media said management of the school have had field days extorting money from them at the end of every academic year.
To them, it is corruption and a blatant disregard for the Minister of Education, Youth and Sport.
They explained that teachers in government assisted schools are putting them under considerable stress, adding that, they’ve been requesting Le5,000 payment from each parent before report cards of pupils are released to them.
That any delay payment of the said amount by parents, an extra Le5,000 will be added, thus compellingly subjecting them into paying Le10,000.
In an interview with the principle of the school, Mr. A.G. Kamara, he said it is the system of the school for parents and guardians to pay the stated amount.
Even as we go to press, the principle still holds onto a considerable number of report cards of pupils who could not pay the Le5,000.
