“Canon will become household word” says MD Glan De Vallier

The Managing Director of Canon South Africa Limited, Glan De Vallier, has disclosed his company’s intention of becoming a household name in Sierra Leone.

He made this statement at a ceremony that was organized by Sam-King Services at the Taia Resort hotel at Lumley beach Freetown.

He said his company is ready to invest and contribute to the socio-economic development in Sierra Leone.

He described his company as a global entity producing technical service which includes cameras, photocopiers, computers, scanners, printers, calculators and other digital equipments.

Giving an overview of Sam-King Services, Managing Director Wilfred Sam-King said his involvement in the business of stationeries and office supplies has been yielding fruit.

He said he has opted to bring in other projects to Sierra Leone.

He said since there is over one thousand stationeries shops in country, there is urgent need to explore more ideas so as to make the business more competitive.

He said the need to provide the appropriate goods and services that meet the needs of the people, improve on their marking strategies, will surely bring solutions that will meet customer’s needs.

He further said because they are limited in the enhancement of technical capacity, they decided to partner with Canon to provide them with technical competence that will make them more competitive over their colleagues.

He said his group is currently working on a project in Rogbere, Bo, Kenema and Makeni, including tourism and the building of hotels.

In his path, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Richard Conteh said that Sierra Leone is indeed going through a period of transformation and development.

He said business needs to be improved in the country, adding that the small and medium enterprises need to be enhanced to make them compete with larger ones.

He emphasized that although Sam-King has gone through difficulties, but has never given up. The Minister salutes the intention of Canon Company in doing business in Sierra Leone and noted government’s creation of an enabling environment for investment.
