Zonta Club Care For The Old

The 8th of November, was world Zonta day 2009 which was celebrated in Sierra Leone with members of the Zonta Club of Freetown. The Zonta Club provided food of different varieties for old and sick residents  of  King George Home at Kissy. Zonta president Mrs. Junietta Ayodele Macaulay in her brief address told beneficiaries of the feeding project that they care for the aged, and that is the reason why they have engaged in the feeding project.

Zonta vice president of the club insists that old people should be cared for, and such visit is not going to be the last.

More Juvenile home for Salone

The deputy director of the Sierra Leone prisons services has called on government and other stakeholders to help increase  the number of  Reform Homes around the country. He made this appeal in response to the allegation leveled against the Sierra Leone Prisons Services following a recent meeting convened by the Open Government Initiative.

Chief Sam-Sumana in $350,000 bribery

Vice President Sam-Sumana has been reported to be involved in a law suit in the United States in which he has been accused, together with other individual, of involvement in a bribery act involving $350,000.

It is highly believed that the Vice President might be served a writ of summons if he again sets foot in the US. However, legal experts have stated that US court officials will not arrest or subpoena the Vee Pee if he goes to the US in his capacity as Vice President of a sovereign state because he will be protected by diplomatic protocol.

Supreme Court dismisses SLAJ

The Supreme Court in Sierra Leone has delivered a verdict concerning the call by the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) for the scrapping of the criminal and seditious libel laws in the Public Order Act.

The learned Justice Tholla Thompson who read the verdict stated that although the Court has the legitimate right to interpret the laws of this country, the same court is not the right authority to amend the laws of the land, and called on SLAJ to meet the right authorities.
