Le 1 billion missing at NRA

The amount is said to have been withdrawn from NRA accounts at the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank between January and June of 2011.

Credible information reaching this press points out that bank payment reconciliation slips (BPR) used for the withdrawals of the amount of Le 1 billion have disappeared in drawers at the Finance office of NRA.

Credible information reaching this press gives a design however that the Deputy Director of Finance, Madam Sento Bangura is apparently in hot water with the Director of Finance, due to her discoveries of unjustified withdrawals totaling Le 1 billion from the coffers of NRA accounts at the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank.

That the unjustified withdrawals of Le 1 billion from accounts of NRA has uncovered fact revealing immoral conducts of senior management officers at the authority.

It could be recalled President Koroma in a month or so has sent out a letter to the management of NRA, instructing them to institute internal audits at respective departments of the institution.

Disclosures have it also that the Acting Commissioner General, Haja Kallah Kamara, the Finance Director Abdulai Conteh, the Corporate Secretary Alimamy O. Kamara and others have ganged up against Director of Audit, Philip Koroma.

Philip Koroma has vowed to uncompromisingly expose unwholesome conducts of money makers (corrupt officials) at the NRA.

It is also disclosed that Philip Koroma has been accused by allies of Haja Kallah of divulging official information to the press.

“Philip is an ungrateful, unappreciative and arrogant folk,” an official is quoted as saying.

Revelations have it though that the head of finance, Abdulai Conteh, has had field days collecting loans at will (three loans in 2011); a contravention of the policies governing NRA.

It is no hidden secret that all including the Acting CG of NRA entitles to a loan every year.

Sources say however that there is serious divide between the Director of Finance and his Deputy Madam Sento Bangura.

It is revealed that a misunderstanding between the Director and his Deputy emanated from the latter’s (Madam Sento Bangura) unearthing of a bank statement from Commercial Bank which indicates that the sum of Le 1 billion was unjustifiably withdrawn from the account of the NRA.

Inside NRA sources have told this press that the Finance Director disastrously refused submitting bank payment reconciliation (BPR) slips to internal auditors of NRA so as to enable them tell reasons for the withdrawals of the alleged amount.

Unconfirmed disclosures reveal that the Acting Commissioner General, the Finance Director and others are aware of the unjustified withdrawal of the Le 1 billion, but pretend to be innocent.
