Airtel SL to formally launch its site in Sahn Malen
Manoj Kohli, CEO Africa for Bharti Airtel during his first visit to Sierra Leone last July, made a declaration to invest $20 million to expand the network in Sierra Leone. Today we see that promise becoming a reality as Airtel is to formally launch its newest network coverage site today Friday 8th July in Sahn Malen, Pujehun District.
The erection of the site in Sahn Malen now means the surrounding areas of Sahn, Jao, Saa, Libbi, Sinabu, Singo, Masaho, Tamabom are now also covered and people in the communities within these areas can now communicate with the rest of the world.
In addition, the extended Airtel network coverage brings immense opportunities to the local communities by linking them up with other parts of Sierra Leone and the rest of the world especially with the establishment of the Malaysian based palm oil mill in Malen and the rice mill in Tamabom. With your Airtel phone and with Airtel’s competitive rates, communicating has never been so easy. Where before people had to travel miles to relay a message, now they can now pick up the phone and make calls, saving them time and travel costs.
This is not the first time the people of Malen are benefiting from the company. The Malen Junior Secondary School couple of years back under the company’s then Build Our Nation CSR Programme was fortunate to receive a grant of $15,000 from the then Chairman for additional Classroom buildings following a donation of text books to the school worth over 10 Millions Leones.

The launch will be done by the Minister of Information Alhaji IB Kargbo .
A total of 27 sites are in the pipe line to be launched in the next couple of months on air since the 1st of July are Bumpe Ngao in Bo District, Yamandu in Kono District, Campbell Street in Western Area and Kalangba in the Bombali District.
Senior Management of Airtel will be present at the launch as well as members of the fourth estate.
Airtel is the leading mobile network operator in Sierra Leone with the widest coverage and quality network. Presently, it’s the only network in Sahn Malen.
