Cocaine… another Nigerian nabbed
Jude Uchama Omeigbo a Nigerian businessman yesterday appeared before Magistrate Johannes Wellington of Court 2 for unlawful possession of cocaine contrary to section 8(a) of the National Drugs Control Act No. 10 of 2008.
In the particulars offence, it is stated that the accused on Thursday 16th June, at No. 230 Kamayama Regent Road, Lumley, Freetown Judicial District in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone was found in possession 0.37 grams of cocaine without lawful authority.
The cocaine was described in the well of court 2 as small quantity of white powder wrapped in a white plastic containing (0.37grams).
Lawyer defending the accused Mr. U. Koroma applied for bail for his client, convincing the court that he virtually not jump bail at all.
Police prosecutor Inspector A.F. Heals objected to bail commenting that the accused is a flight risk and if granted bail he surely jumps bail.
His ruling, Magistrate Wellington vehemently refused bail to the accused on grounds interpreting the seriousness of the offence.
