SLPP palava don don … and Sama Banya weeps

The legal wrangling between one of the flagbearer aspirants, Dr. Bu Buakei Jabbie and the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) was on the night of Saturday, June 25 this year resolved at a marathon meeting of the party’s National Executive Council that lasted for over seven hours at the party’s national headquarters at Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown. The resolution saw the dissolution of the National Executive Council and the formation of an acting executive in which all the outgoing members were asked to remain in their positions in acting capacities with Chief Sumano Kapen serving as Deputy to Mr. John Oponjo Benjamin who remained as Interim Chairman.

It was also resolved that the resolutions and the consent judgment arrived at at the meeting should be communicated to the Supreme Court immediately so that the removal of the matter from Court will be expedited.

It was also agreed that the National Delegates Convention at which the Presidential candidate and a new executive will be elected will be held two weeks after the Supreme Court had removed the matter from Court.

In an exclusive interview with Mr. John Benjamin after the meeting he said he was very happy with the outcome of the meeting. He pointed out that he was sure the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) will now start having sleepless nights as he stressed that they have the numbers, capability and credibility to vote them out of power in 2012. He also stressed that if anything, this matter has united their party more than ever before. He paid tribute to Mr. Solomon Berewa, Alhaji Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, Dr. Sama Banya, and other elders who had worked tirelessly to resolve the matter.

This paper also talked to Dr. Bu Buakei Jabbie who said that he was experiencing the happiest moment of his life. He also explained that there was no bad blood flowing among them and that they were now going to galvanize their strengths and resources to win the Presidential and General Elections in 2012.

When we talked to Dr. Sama Banya he was so choked with emotion that he only managed to state that it had been a very hard work to resolve the matter for which he thanked God before he burst into tears.

  • Sama banya is a frustrated man. He will continue crying for his party until his final hours on earth. he is a traitor and is now paying the price. it is just the beginning. The time has come for all of them to shed tears all day and all night and at the end they will find better seating spaces at the great cotton tree where they will declare the evil deeds they have perpetrated into this struggling country. Thanks to him and his cohorts. Mark my words. As for the German boy Benjamin, He is a day dreamer, APC don’t even think about him. He is free to talk -but all na boku -talk.
