Nepean Stars and Area Best bow out of Premiership football
Nepean Stars of Bo have become the first team in the Sierra Leone Premier League to be relegated to the First Division even though the league is yet to come to an end.
They have just 4 points and are second from bottom of the table and have two more games left but can no longer get the minimum of 11 points currently required to stay on as a Premier League team following Freetown City’s victory over Bo Rangers on Tuesday.
Nepean Stars narrowly escaped relegation last season but the continued poor run of results of 9 defeats this season has seen them go down the relegation zone. They only managed to get one victory and a draw but those were not enough to prevent them from sinking.
Newcomers, Area Best of Makeni will likely join Nepean Stars in the relegation spot if they fail to win their remaining matches as they have lost all their premiership matches they’ve played so far in the league.
