Sierra Leonean Internationals await Leone Stars call-up!

Two Sierra Leonean footballers playing for clubs in Europe have told Sierra Express Media that they are on high alert in anticipation of a call from Leone Stars Swedish coach Lars Olof Mattsson.

Alusine Kamara alias Baggio who plays for Mortala FF in Sweden and Ahmed Deen (in photo) who plays for Dulwich in England, passionately have the interest to loyally defend the Sierra Leone national flag should they be invited to join the national side in its approaching encounters with both the Pharaohs of Egypt and Bafana Bafana of South Africa respectively.

In an email forwarded to Sierra Express Media’s sport reporter, both players whole heartedly submitted interest to represent the national green, white and blue colours whenever called upon to play for the Leone Stars.

Kamara told our reporter that Coach Olof Mattsson has watched him play for his Swedish side on three occasions, noting that, in all the three games, his team won two and drew one.

The 22 year old Midfielder maintained that playing for the national side signposts the way for bigger teams in Europe to employ their services.

Kamara has spent two seasons in the Swedish League, but played once for the national side during a warm-up match between Leone Stars and the Super Eagles of Nigeria in March of 2011 nay a 2-1 lost against his side.

The former FC Kallon player however revealed that Leone Stars victory in the Niger encounter has given the team a chance to stay hopeful in Group (G), adding that winning over Egypt and South Africa we will see them qualify for Africa’s most prestigious tournament after 17 years in the wilderness.

Conversely, Ahmed Deen has also told this press that it will be a dream come true if he is given the opportunity to play for his national side.

Deen was part of the Leone Stars squad in the 2007 and 2008 Nations’ Cup qualifiers, but was ruled out owing to a serious ankle injury he picked up.

The former Maccasfied United Player further said that this is the time he wants to show Sierra Leoneans his God given talent, saying that he watched two of Leone Stars matches and how was happy with their performances.

The 23 year old winger said it is his club will be in Spain for holiday and a pre- season tour.
