Two accused charged for unlicensed drugs
Abu Bangura, aged 16, and Momodu Barrie, aged 25, both petty traders, on Wednesday, June 1 appeared before Magistrate Johannes Wellington at Court No. 2 in Freetown for flouting legal requirements as contained in Section 17 of the Pharmacy and Drugs Act 2001.
In the particulars of offence, it is stated that the accused persons, Abu Bangura and Momodu Barrie, on Friday, 27th May, 2011 were found in the possession of Class ‘A’ and ‘B’ drugs, to wit, ten Cyprohetadine tablets B.P, seventy-nine Ibubrofen tablets B.P 400mg, twenty Dicflonenac tablets B.P 50mg, ten Eclumol capsules, seventy-four Oral contraceptives (Microgynon), forty relief tablets, eighteen pain buster tablets, ten feel free tablets, eighteen Chloramphenicol capsules B.P 250mg, nineteen Paracetamol tablets, thirty Novalgin (500/mg), ten Stop ache tablets and ten Quick action tablets without licenses.
The accused pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of Le one million and a surety each.
The matter was adjourned to 9th May, 2011.
