Tetteh ready for Niger battle

One of Sierra Leone’s finest strikers, Ibrahim Tetteh Bangura (in photo) says his team must be mentally and physically prepared to face the Mena’s of Niger in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in the Freetown capital.

Tetteh, admitted it is not going to be easy considering only a victory will keep their hopes alive in Saturday’s Group G encounter.

“We’re going to have 45,000 people behinds us and the pressure will be intense, I think the players need to be physically and mentally prepared for that,” the AIK striker told Sierra Express Media.

“If we can come away with all three points it will be a very good result for us, and that will take us back in contention for a qualification spot.”

Sierra Leone lost in Niamey by 3-1 and that was their first defeat in the group after 0-0 draw with Egypt and South Africa respectively.

South Africa are top of Group G with seven points from three games so far, Niger second with two points, and Sierra Leone third with four points, while the African champions Egypt are bottom of the table with just a single point.

Only the group winners are guaranteed a place at the finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
