Giileh to play ‘Madam Yoko’ in the theatrical production ‘Let Me Die Alone,” directed by David Vandy
Sierra Theatre Productions director, David Vandy will be featuring Giileh as the leading actress in his latest production – ‘Let Me Die Alone’. The play to be held at the Montgomery College of Performing Arts in Maryland on June 3rd, 2011 was written by one of Sierra Leone’s most respected playwrights Kolosa John Kargbo and it is based on the life and times of ‘Madam Yoko’, one of the most powerful and respected women chiefs in Africa.
Sierra Theatre Productions, Sierra Leone’s only theatre company in the USA is steadily gaining it’s foothold in the industry as the company has been attracting a larger and diverse audience with recent performances in New York and at the Kennedy Center and the Smithsonian Museum for African American Arts in Washington D.C. As one industry expert familiar with the Madam Yoko‖ story and the progress of Giileh as both a singer and an actress puts it, “This is just another logical progression in the career of a well-rounded gifted performer, seamlessly combining her unique talents and love for entertaining audiences on both the acting stage and the singing platform.” Although the singer has been performing with Sierra Theatre Productions in the past, her lead role as Madam Yoko‖ is a new milestone in her acting career.
