Minister boasts impasse is resolved

The Minister of Youth, Employment and Sport, Paul Kamara yesterday told cross sections of pressmen that the impasse between his Ministry and the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) is resolved.

He made this disclosure at the weekly government press briefing at the conference room of the Ministry of Information.

In his submission he said he has the vision to introduce fruitful developmental innovations for the betterment of youths of this country.

“It is my dream to swiftly overturn the manner in which respective sporting disciplines are being managed by officials,” the minister said.

Reflection must however be drawn to recent impasse between the minister of sport and members of the SLFA over the appointment of a coach for the senior national team.

It was recently reported by one of BBC’s Africa sport reporters that two coaches of the Sierra Leone national football team Leone Stars, have separately named their squad for the Niger vs Leone Stars encounter in June.

“Just two days ago, I was in a meeting with members of SLFA to unfailingly resolve the indifference between them and us as ministry officials,” the minister emphasized, adding that, “It was agreed by parties concerned that they should all observe a peaceful co-existence from within the football family if they are to improve on the status of the game in Sierra Leone.”

He furthered however, that ahead of the Niger match, his ministry will coordinate with the players to gainfully secure victory for darling Leone Stars nay put Sierra Leone on top of big football nations in Africa.

“It is my wish also to win minds of Sierra Leoneans so that they can come out in their numbers to cheer with the national team on the 4th of June at the National Stadium.

The Acting President SLFA, Mr J.S. Kei Fala said his institution is willing to work with the Minister but maintained they will not sit by and see things go the wrong way – “we should all follow the status quo.”
