In a bid to demonstrate its corporate social responsibility, one of Sierra Leone’s banking institutions; the Standard Chartered Bank, on April 30th donated assorted food items and toiletries to the Blind School.

The items which included 20 bags of rice, 5 bags of sugar, 5 bags onions, 5 gallons cooking oil, 5 gallons palm oil, 6 cartoons tomato paste, biscuits, and toilet rolls among other things were presented by the Director of the board of the bank, Mrs. Blanche Gooding.

In her statement, the Director said that the event is in continuation of the bank’s long standing relationship with the Blind School.

Standard Chartered Bank has a history of 177 profitable performances in Sierra Leone.

Mrs. Blanche Gooding stressed her bank formed an integral part of the economy of Sierra Leone.

“As we celebrate Sierra Leone’s golden jubilee, my bank (the board of Directors of Standard Chartered Bank) embarks on cementing its friendly relationship with the  Blind School by donating the forenamed items.

“It is assured that the donation will go a long way to make a real difference in the lives of blind students,” Mrs. Blanche said.

“I must commend Standard Bank customers, especially Saad Group Ltd, Commodities Trading Company, Sierra Leone Bottling Company, and Greenfield Farm, who in diverse ways partnered with us in the enhancement of items donated to the Blind School.

Receiving the gifts, Mr. Albert Jillo Sandy appreciated the official of Standard Chartered Bank for the items offered to the school.

He described such as timely and therefore called on God to direct the conduct of officials of Standard Chartered Bank.

The ceremony was climaxed with thrilling songs from the Blind School choir, sharing of jokes, and refreshment.
