Sierra Leone native Shaka Bangura snatched up by Richmond Kickers
The Richmond Kickers in the United States signed 5’7″ midfielder Shaka Bangura for the upcoming season. According to head Coach Leigh, he was very impressed with Shaka’s power, pace, and ability to open up defense. Coach Leigh stated he was also equally impressed with Shaka’s enthusiasm and desire to play for the Kickers.
Shaka states, “It’s a big challenge for me, but I have a strong desire to get a place in this group and establish myself and also learn from my new teammates in order to become a better player.”
Bangura had many offers from different clubs, but he choose the Kickers because it is a club that always competes for championships.
Bangura, 25, is a native of Sierra Leone who signed his first professional contract with Puerto Rico Islanders last year. He was part of the Islanders’ team that won the USSF Division II and the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Championships.
Bangura is an incredible outside forward who can also play as a striker. Shaka had an outstanding college career at Montreat College where he consistently made all Conference first teams in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC). He was also named conference player of the year during his sophomore and junior year.
During his four years at Montreat Bangura scored a total of 58 goals in 74 matches.
