Mustapha Sesay launches manifesto

After weeks of declaration of intent, Mustapha Sesay (in photo), one of Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) Presidential candidates, yesterday launched his manifesto and campaign.

In his measurement, as he addressed journalists at the Harry Yansaneh Hall, Mustapha noted that his mission is to redeem SLAJ from what he says was ‘repression,’ ‘double standards’ and ‘maladministration.’

He said such occurrences have reduced the cherished association into an animal farm of promises, unfinished projects and press releases.

He assured all of his vision to bring prosperity and hope to SLAJ and journalists through out Sierra Leone.

“The Umaru Fofana regime lacks transparency and accountability in financial management” he said.

“To me, it is a clear indication that he failed to deliver what he promised in 2008.”

Mustapha noted with dismay that the financial reports are prepared without any respect for standards and the constitution.

He furthered that under Umaru Fofana’s regime, the national financial secretary and assistant secretary general were left to freely perform administrative functions at will.

He cited instances where SLAJ’s external communications are done without regard for the office of the secretary general.

He added however that the December 2009 to November 2010 financial report is yet to be prepared even though a professional accountant was hired by SLAJ in 2010.
