Golden Jubilee inter-religious remembrance service

Muslims and Christians of Sierra Leone, in collaboration with the 50th Independence Anniversary Committee, will be organising an Inter-Religious Remembrance Service on Wednesday 23rd March 2011 at the National Stadium, Freetown and in the Provinces.

The service will start with a march past beginning at 6pm from all take off points to the National Stadium. Muslims in the east end of Freetown will assemble at Up-Gun round-about, while Christians will assemble at Cline Town round-about and all will process to the National Stadium.

Muslims in the west end of Freetown will assemble at Vine Memorial Secondary School, while Christians will assemble at Aberdeen Road/Wilkinson Road junction and all will process to the National Stadium.

At the National Stadium, an inter-religious remembrance service will be held.

Simultaneously, the march past and the inter-religious remembrance service will be observed in all districts.

All Muslims and Christians are requested to dress in white for the occasion.

At mid-day on March 23rd- 12pm sharp – the Muslim and Christian communities are kindly calling on the whole nation to observe a minute’s silence in remembrance of all those who fought and fell for the peace we now enjoy.
