In the Wednesday’s elections conducted at the CAF 33rd Congress in Khartoum, Sudan, Galadima Nigeria’s candidate with only five votes and Danny Jordaan despite his success in organising World Cup in South Africa pulled out 10 votes.
It was a disappointing moment for both contestants as their quest for top football position were dashed at the last minute in Khartoum.
Algerian Football President Mohamed Raouraoua won the contest with 39 votes while Jacques Bernard Anouma of Ivory Coast retained his seat with 35 votes, with another four-years to work.
Kalusha Bwalya who was smart to withdraw from the race was voted instead onto the CAF executive committee, that has the responsibly in running the African game.
