There is an interesting opinion in the Unity newspaper by Professor Kelfala Kallon who never fails to amaze and delight me with his systematic and in-depth analysis of even the most complicated or bizarre issues like “KOROMATICS ECONOMIC THEORY OF SIERRA LEONEANS NEVER HAVING IT SO GOOD IN THE FACE OF DARE ECONOMIC DIFFICULTIES. He has dealt with the current Dr. Bu-Buakei Jabbie vs. SLPP court case with the same simplified manner that reminds me of text books like “John Citizen and the Law” or “Economics for Everyone.” He has not admitted though that I had stated as much in my “Wow! We’re in court piece” except to express disappointment that I have repeated ugly rumours about Dr. Jabbie which could not be true of the man. (Photo: Dr Sama Banya)

Here let me say that I deliberately brought into the open what was being said about the learned doctoral over the place and which I must say had come to his ears even before my piece.

Be that as it may, the erudite Professor has a point and I agree with him entirely. It is a sad day for us that a party with a surfeit of wise elders and brilliant young people would sit idly by while one of the aspirants for the leadership of the party drags the same party to court on a matter that ought to have been dealt with in the SLPP family.Iif this were a  simple fact it would be inexcusable for all of us. But as is well known now, a group of concerned core members of the party have been holding meetings with various stakeholders over the last three months in order to address Dr. Jabbie’s concerns as well as other critical matters which had the potential to divide us.

Sadly Dr. Jabbie’s issue is the only one that we have not succeeded in solving and so we are in court. As a member of the Selection Committee on aspirants, when Dr. Jabbie appeared before the committee I reminded him of his court action in 2005 and asked whether he felt embarrassed now that he was aspiring to the leadership of the same party. His response was that the party had benefited from his action hence we were where we are now. I agree with Kelfala Kallon that there is still a satisfactory way forward and my group has been deliberating on how to actualize the proposal. I believe I said as much in my article that we could still “sweep the carpet from under” Dr. Jabbie’s feet and we are going to continue trying. As a matter of some interest I have since learnt that the APC as a party are very anxious and are praying that Jabbie’s motion is thrown out of court for but for a different reason altogether. It would then give them an opportunity of using former PMDC now UDP strongman Mohamed Bangura to take the same steps when retreat on our part would be impracticable. I really have no regrets for bringing such matters into the open.

Like the APC, I along with several party members have taken a special interest in Constituency 04, in the Kissi Tongie chiefdom of Kailahun district where the honourable Vice President recently spent FOUR WORKING DAY’S VISIT. I too was there last weekend and heard news that the entire APC propaganda team has deliberately refused to mention. The former Member of Parliament for the constituency the honourable Tamba Bobor-Sawyer now deputy minister of health in the APC administration made a statement during the Vice President’s visit. He informed the mammoth gathering, including the 1,420 former SLPP members who had declared for the APC (see front page of Torchlight newspaper of Tuesday February 22) that he Tamba Bobor-Sawyer was still a member of the Sierra Leone Peoples’ Party. He informed another group that he would NEVER resign from the SLPP. But then he was urging the people to vote APC. Ha ha!

According to the for-di-people newspaper the APC has made inroads into the Kailahun district. May I invite the editor of the newspaper to read Kef Dukulay’s analyses of how the Kailahun district has gone all red in recent months? Believe me it makes interesting reading. As for me, an old man whose father and grandfather were both Kissis, I can only repeat my favourite Kissi phrase. Na dia tengain, na maala tengain! Welcome to Constituency 04.
