Barlay, who is a regular in the Sierra Leone national squad, noted his new club Mughan will kick start their second round campaign in the Azerbaijan Unibank Premier League February 12 against fellow Sierra Leonean teammates and national team captain Ibrahim Kargbo FC Baku.
Barlay in a telephone conversation said – “I have received an invitation from the Sierra Leone Football Association for the arranged friendly, at the same time I recently signed for a new club and I wanted to secure a regular place with Mughan FC.
For me the timing is just not right, I have a very important league match against FC Baku Feb. 12 playing on the friendly Feb 9, will be too much for me, I always love to play for my country and have also discussed the possibilities with my club President, he made it clear they needed me for this first league encounter in the second round,” Barlay noted.
Barlay 24 is anxious to impress his new club fans and from the way things are at the moment it is clear the player will not be in the squad that will face Super Eagles in Nigeria.
FC Mugan technical team will be hoping to improve their league standing when they face FC Baku next Saturday in their Unibank Premier league.
