President Koroma Holds Talks With IMF And MCC

Washington D.C, January 27, 2011.: Representing the Economic Council of West African States  (ECOWAS) in a consultative meeting with President Obama on Wednesday, Sierra Leone’s President, His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma in a side meeting led a high-powered delegation to pay a courtesy call on the IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn at the Fund’s headquarters in Washington DC.

The two Executives posed for photographs before going to the conference room where they poured accolades on each other in appreciation of the forward-looking partnership the two sides are enjoying, plus the successes of the development projects undertaken. Other matters of mutual interest, including the sub-regional threat posed by Cote D’Ivoire’s political crisis, were also discussed.

By President Koroma’s side were his two Ministers and the Ambassador. Other officers who accompanied the President to the IMF bureau were the State Chief of Protocol Mr. S. Manna Kpukumu, the Aide De Camp Assistant Superintendent of Police Rueben Shyllon, and staff of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Washington.

At the end of the meeting you could tell by the smiles on their faces that the IMF/Sierra Leone partnership for development was going at a pace and direction that pleased the two Executives. However, the smiles faded when it became apparent later that due to the snowstorm, the delegation would be prevented from returning home that evening but quality time that President Koroma spent with his top officers over dinner reminiscing political events in Sierra Leone, proved to be refreshing.
