Jan 21, 2011 Pujehun: President Ernest Bai Koroma (in photo) has said that his government does not believe in divide and rule politics. He therefore called for the total involvement of every Sierra Leonean in the development of the country, a key goal of his vision.

Against that backdrop, he declared all out war on all political barriers that have the potential to divide the country. “I am ready to break more political camp barriers of all forms”, he pledged.

The President said that development projects recently rolled out in Pujehun district are just a tip of the iceberg as more programmes are in the pipeline.

“I have confidence in my Presidency and what I am doing. So you the people of Pujehun should tell your sons the truth to enhance their contribution towards national development and unity as we all work together as a nation”, he appeals.

President Koroma declared that he was in Pujehun to inspect completed and on-going projects, as the year 2011 is a period of implementation and not of talking.  “We are doing all these because we believe that the district should be developed”, he reassured.

The President said that the Youth Resource Centre, the Town Hall and the Bridge being requested by the people, would soon be addressed, noting that the district  has already benefited a lot from the Agenda for Change and stands to get more.

Earlier, Chief Victor Kebbie of Sahn Malen chiefdom lauded President Koroma for changing the lives and perceptions of the people of Pujehun district and declared “we are waiting to see more changes that will impact positively on the lives of Sierra Leoneans”.

He described the appointment of the two Pujehun indigenes as a clear manifestation of President Koroma’s commitment to the district and encouraged the people to embrace the APC party and its leadership.

The APC National Secretary General Victor Bockarie Foh refuted negative perceptions that there are no Mendes in the government, pointing to the number of South-Easterners, including Mendes currently occupying key ministerial portfolios. “Let us come together and work hard with the government that is taking development to everywhere in Sierra Leone”, he appealed.

President Koroma, he recalled won the 2007 presidential elections for every Sierra Leonean and therefore hopes the political representation of Pujehun district in the APC party will increase rapidly.
