In 2009 Ghana defeated Brazil to become the first African team to win the Under-20 World Cup in Cairo Egypt, now Ghana U-20 will open their campaign against Nigeria on March 19; take on Gambia three days later before playing Cameroon on March 25.
They are in a tough group with big names in African football, playing against arch rivals Nigeria, Cameroon and recent youth football giants Gambia will face a real challenge in their attempt to qualify the World Youth Championships and Wellington is aware of that.
“It will be a very, very difficult group. We have to work extremely hard to get out of the group stage but I have a lot of confidence and belief in the players available so we will work hard at it,” he told journalists in Accra.
All three games will be played in the Libyan city of Benghazi.
