Bertalan Bicskei in no doubt of victory
Despite recent headlines about the 67-year-old Hungarian tactic and his recent poor form that left the Liberian senior soccer team Lone Star bottom of their group A for Gabon Equatorial Guinea 2012 with only a point from two games played, the Hungarian is in no doubt about eliminating Sierra Leone U-23 in the return leg for London Olympics this Sunday when the two sides lock horns in the Liberian capital Monrovia.
According to report from Liberian Football Association (LFA) veteran tactician Bertalan Bicskei (in photo) is pulling every mean to secure the deserving points and move on to the next stage of the competition.
The national head coach has already recommended to the Liberia FA the names of few overseas actors, who meet the age requirement, to complement the local based squad.
The Technician is confident because if they can play with a single foreign player Tonia Tisdell, and manage to play 1-1 in Freetown October 8, 2010 they can just finish were the left at their home.
“The boys are enthusiastic to close the chapter with their counterparts from Freetown by edging them out of the contest”. Said Bicskei
The only major concern is the way things have been happening in recent weeks about local coaches are not having enough salary for what they do, one major talking point in Liberia media is the fact that the U-23 is technically without a Coach as the win-less Hungarian Bertalan Bicskei is seen training the team with the help of ex-LPRC Oilers often bad-mouthed for players coach Gabriel Johns and former NPA Anchors Coach Raymond Moulton.
The report stated that, Bicskei was hired to coach the Senior national team with the likes of Frank Jericho Nagbe, Gabriel Johns, Joe Nagbe and Raymond Moulton assisting him, but with Bicskei since plotting against Jericho (who guided the team to their 1-1 draw against Sierra Leone) to leave the Lone Star, the team is without a Coach as in fact there was no Coach hired by the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to handle the team.
With the LFA appointing coaches for the U-17 and U-20, it must have been a blunder on their part not to select coaches for the U-23 as the likes of Moulton, Nagbe and Johns are all attached to the senior national team as their contracts indicate. These are concerns by football journalists in Liberia, whether it will have an impact on the Liberia U-23 is yet to be seen.
