Guma Valley Water Company yesterday engaged Statistics Sierra Leone in the enhancement of reliable and credible collection of information.

The briefing which took place at Statistics Sierra Leone brought to light discussions relating to the formidable maintenance of customer’s database.

In his statement, the Manager GVWC, Mr. Zoker, said it is mandatory of his organization in the provision of portable water supply for residents of Freetown and its environs.

He explained however that his company lacks proper database for customers and so, will go all out to set up proper database for the benefit of all.

He further told members of the press that a good data collection helps an organization achieve adequate information on issues of service deliveries and payment habits.

Mr. Zoker expressed disbelief over what he describes as ‘competent and professional conduct of staff of SSL in the enhancement of a better and reliable data collection system for GVWC.’

He pointed out that the survey will help his company transform the numerous consumers to customers.

That the survey will help identify connection sources and provides better service delivery.

The Acting Statistician General, Mr. Mohamed King-Koroma, commends GVWC for right in collaborating with his institution in the mustering of credible information to allow a reliable customer database for Sierra Leone’s water providers.

He implores the enumerators to exercise their duties with due diligence if they are to achieve an unbiased result in the survey.

“The World Bank have provided funds to undertake the venture and GVWC has partitioned the Western Area into three zone for the purpose of the survey which will start from Allen town in the East to Sussex in the West,” it was revealed.
