Police ‘Tiffy Tiffy’ deepens
Assistant Superintendent Barbar Kamara, who few days ago, was whisked to the CID for larceny of two police vehicles, is said to be languishing in cells pending investigation.
ASP Barbar in his statement confessed stealing vehicles while acting as the head of transport in the Sierra Leone Police.
He is presently housed at the CID helping the police in their investigation.
The arrest of ASP Barber came after it was discovered that two vehicles, SLP 180 magirus truck and SLP 125 Mercedes Benz Ambulance had disappeared at the Kingtom police garage and are concealed somewhere unknown.
Revelations linking ASP Barbar’s conduct came to light shortly after one Inspector Bayo, who is attached to the AIG crime management, Morrie Lengoh, disclosed to his boss that a magirus Truck with registration number SLP 180 which was parked at the police garage at Kingtom had disappeared.
According to Inspector Bayo, the truck was among the number of police vehicles listed for boarding.
That he was interested on the magirus truck and so, focused attention on it.
Inspector Bayo, we are told, checked on the magirus truck at its usual parking space but observed it was not there.
He was concerned and therefore got to his boss, AIG Lengor, informing him of the disappearance of the vehicle.
It was revealed to this press that Inspector Bayo, after proving that the magirus truck was missing at the garage, got to ASP Barbar to enquire from him, but was hissed at.
Upon this, he wasted no time, but initiated his boss AIG Lengor, who promptly instituted action leading to the subsequent discovery of two vehicles at the home of ASP Barbar.
AIG Lengor, we are told, instructed officials of the complaint discipline internal investigation department (CDIID) to step up investigation and bring to book persons found culpable of larceny of police vehicles.
Our reporter has confirmed that disclosures leading to the discovery of unknown stolen vehicles have reached officers of CDIID.
As at press time, it was confirmed that another police truck has been discovered and is now parked at the frontage of police HQ pending investigation.
Vehicles so far discovered were found at the resident of ASP Barbar, at his private home in Rokel Village.
It could be recalled that the British, some years ago, had contributed in the training of police officers nay the advent of the slogan ‘A Force for Good.’
The spate of involvement of senior police officers into high up criminality seemed questioning the self acclaimed notion ‘A Force for Good’ and has rendered serious doubts in minds of Sierra Leoneans.
ASP Baio, who now faces trial for deviously conspiring with armed robbers in the renting of guns, was formerly the officer in charge of munitions for the SLP.
Just few days ago, another senior police officer, ASP Barbar, was pressed tightly for stealing vehicles belonging to the Sierra Leone police.
It was all a surprise in mouth of our reporter minutes after he discovered that ASP Barbar has not been placed in cells, but allowed to relax at the office of the officer commanding Major Incident Support Team one (MIST ONE).
He was spotted wearing white under vest, brown trousers and brown slippers. He was flanked by his wives and was delightful as if on jolly trip.
Officers approached for comment declined.
