Child abuse, especially sexual abuse, is a universal and alarming problem and increased attention and efficient protection skills and prevention measures are necessary at family, local, national, and international level.
After a long tradition of silence, sexual child abuse is being more and more denounced and becoming a public and political topic. Alerting governments, civil society organizations, the mass media etc to play a more active role in the promotion and respect for the rights of the child (Article 19 and 34* of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Concerns/problems faced by children in Sierra Leone:
- Sexual harassment, Violence and Rape from both adolescent and adult.
- Labour : (child miners, scrape metal, stones) etc.
- Trafficking of children from rural setting to urban settlement to trade or do domestic work.
- Adult and young people continue to exposed children to pornographic movies.
- Children are being induced by adult to engage on sexual exploitation which normally lead to early pregnancy, HIV/Aids AND Sexual Transmitted infection (STI).
