Miller steps down as AIK
Alex Miller, the 61 years old British coach has resigned as coach for the former Swedish champions after a tumultuous start to the season. No successor is in place, but the process for appointing a new head coach of AIK Football hence will commence.
I want to thank the players for their professionalism and also to the AIK fans, they gave the team a great support when it needed most, says Miller in a statement release after his resignation.
Under his leadership, a total of Alex Miller’s track record in the 24 competitive games: nine wins, four draws and eleven losses. The highlights were 2-0 victory at Råsunda it to the future Swedish champions Malmo FF and 2-0 at home against IF Elfsborg, which was AIK’s first victory against borås makers of over seven years.
No replacements ready for the Scot, who had a year left on contract with AIK, has previously been linked with a newly created talent development services within the Scottish Football Association.
AIK has not found a replacement for Miller, but the process of recruiting a new head coach has already begun.
“Alex has done exactly what he came here to do, saving the premier contract. We have discussed the conditions we have and the challenges we face in 2011 and has been with them as the basis agreed to go their separate ways, “said AIK President Mats Gustavsson.
