Gyan continues to grab headlines
Ghanaian and Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan continues to grace the headlines in the English premiership in a bid to win this year’s African Best player award, the fine striker accounted for the only goal to keep his side level against Tottenham Tuesday night.
And Sunderland coach Steve Bruce has revealed that Asamoah Gyan’s dedicated work ethic is what will make the Ghanaian player successful in England.
Sunderland’s £13m record signing and candidate for the CAF look already a success to Bruce Sunderland side scored 3 goals in two consecutive matches for Sunderland.
The Ghanaian striker is one of three Black Stars players to make the shortlist in the just recently list for the CAF award alongside Dede Ayew of Olympique Marseille and Kevin-Prince Boateng.
Though his first goal against Stoke on Saturday was a tap-in, the second caught the eye. And his goal reign in the English top flight in recent weeks has raised the eyebrows of his manager.
“He has worked extremely hard, so much so that the other day I saw him running on his own. I was in my car and I saw this fella with a hood up. It was Asamoah and it was an afternoon off. You don’t often see that and as I drove past, I thought, ‘that will do for me.’ Asamoah is different, he’s typically African, and he’s unpredictable,” said Bruce.
