APC Berlin Chapter Formed

After three years of governance with admirable feat in various sectors, the All Peoples Congress Party (APC) is not only attracting more members into its political hierarchy, but also amplifying its party’s strength in many parts of Sierra Leone and abroad.

The party’s popularity, which is spreading like wildfire in the harmattan has just reached Berlin, Germany’s seat of power. After preliminary discussions among some high profile supporters, plans are well ahead to establish the APC-Berlin wing.

In an exclusive interview last week, the brain behind the scheme, the dynamic and hardworking acting Chairman of the APC Frankfurt Chapter, Mr. M S. Bangura, said his party is seriously engaged in establishing formidable forces that would work towards complementing President Koroma’s efforts to move the country forward.

“I recently held fruitful discussions with my party stalwarts in Berlin and together we have decided to form an APC Berlin Chapter,” he disclosed, and added that the need for establishing the Berlin Chapter was borne out of the desire to enhance a viable working force for his party.

He said people should embrace President Koroma’s vision for change and encouraged his compatriot to lend hands to the country’s socio economic development strides.

“Our President is not only running the country as a leader, he has the country at heart and his success in governance so far is based on facts that we have all seen,” he argued.

M S. Bangura dismissed rumors that Sierra Leone is still associated with the ten-year civil carnage and called for the participation of all to rebrand the country for a better future.

He cited the example of German television programmes about Sierra Leone, which before now were often depicting the past. He informed that such programmes were now educating the international audience about the rich potentials of the country.

“There is a television channel called German 24. Its always broadcast Sierra Leone’s history about the war but now that it has seen development through the APC, the programme has been metamorphosed into showcasing the country.”

On his inputs to progress back home, Mr. Bangura said he has been actively involved in contributing to developmental projects in Sierra Leone through his United National Peoples Organisation of Sierra Leone/Germany (UNPO).

“Since 2004, we have been collecting medical and agricultural equipments from German organizations and sending them to Sierra Leone for free supplies in various hospitals.” This, he said, was a demonstration of his commitment to serve his country.

Through his UNPO, Mr. Bangura has been able to establish a technical administration and business studies institute in Freetown, aimed at enhancing quality education and a decent life for disadvantaged persons after the war.

“The Technical Institute is situated at 75d main motor road Kalaba town. And we have about 200 graduates that are working in various departments and other ministries in Sierra Leone,” the APC tycoon said.

He noted that his long serving experience gained since the reigns of Siaka Stevens and his international influence would be used to develop his country.

M S. Bangura pledged his daunting support to his party, and vowed to work towards strengthening its support base across Germany.

Pastor Peter Sorie Mansaray, a political scientist in Berlin, expressed admiration for the remarkable achievements made by President Koroma’s government and stated that “as a political scientist, I have weighed the pros and cons and I want to personally thank President Koroma for a job well done.”

Pastor Mansaray who has written a book about combating corruption in Sierra Leone portraying the historical sketch of what he described as “the cancer plaguing our country” showered praises on the Ernest Koroma’s government for “his laudable efforts to fight the menace.”

He informed that it was against this backdrop that he has decided to come onboard the APC train.

“We in Berlin are very much impressive about development back home. And we have people here with potential ideas that would be used for the benefit of our country,” Pastor said and added that he is more than willing to give his unconditional support to President Koroma and the APC.

He thanked M. S. Bangura, for his tireless efforts in wooing support for the APC and bringing people together for the interest of the country.

Francis Sahr Kono another Sierra Leonean residents in Germany, had this to say: “Much has not been heard from Sierra Leoneans in Berlin about APC. But now we are fully awake and are ready to join the APC train and fight hard to develop our country.”

On her part, Mrs. Fatmata Mansaray, thanked M S. Bangura for his initiates and moves for the party’s success in Germany. She pledged her commitment to work with women’s wing to make APC a success story in Germany.

John Baimba Kamara, a mechanical engineer in Germany, is among the battery of supporters ready to promote APC and the government’s agenda for change.

He said, “We are strongly motivated by Ernest’s work and we have decided to form this Chapter in Berlin for continuation of the work already undertaken by Ernest.”
