Second Batch of 150 Pilgrims Arrive Safely In Saudi Arabia

The excited pilgrims accompanied by a member of the Sierra Leone Hajj Mission, Alhaji M.S Kargbo who also doubles as Special Assistant to His Excellency the President on Political affairs were warmly received on arrival by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, H.E Wusu B. Munu, Minister Counsellor/Head of Chancery, Mr. Ibrahim S. Yilla, other embassy officials and a good number of Sierra Leoneans resident in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

After completing their Immigration and Customs formalities  without any hitch this time, the pilgrims were clad in their Hajj attires and immediately set off for the holy city of Mecca where they would be commencing their hajj rituals.

Pilgrims given entry clearance to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

It would be recalled that 500 pilgrims had earlier arrived on Monday this week at the Prince Mohamed Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport Medina, on board a special chartered Royal Air Maroc Flight. This latest batch brings the total number of pilgrims that have so far arrived to 650.

According to Alhaji M.S Kargbo, 20 pilgrims, which will include some members of the Hajj Mission, are also expected to arrive next Sunday, 7th November, 2010.  This latest batch are those that benefitted from scholarships awarded by the Libyan leader Col. Muhammad Gaddafi.

Meanwhile, the Doctors that accompanied the pilgrims have confirmed the pilgrims to be in good spirits.

Haja Captain Folorunso, a nurse attached to the 34 Military Hospital, Mariama Mansaray of the National Malaria Control Programme and Dr. Momodu Sesay attached to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation have confirmed that,  they have so far not identified any major medical problem with the pilgrims,  except few cases of minor  cold, cough  and exhaustion.
