APC Washington DC Metropolitan Chapter Hosts Honorable Martin Bash Kamara in a Dinner and Dance Party
The indomitable and determined President-Elect, Yabom Thaslim Koroma and her corps of APC Washington, DC Metropolitan chapter officials hosted Honorable Martin Bash Kamara, Deputy Minister of Energy and Power of the Republic of Sierra Leone in a dinner and dance party on Saturday October 23, 2010. The dinner and dance was attended by APC party supporters and host of dignitaries.
In his welcoming remarks, Alhaji Dumbuya, Vice President of the Washington, DC APC Metropolitan chapter thanked attendees of the dinner and dance for honoring and welcoming Honorable Martin Bash-Kamara, former Secretary General of the APC North America. Alhaji on behalf of the APC Washington DC, Chapter expressed his gratitude for Honorable Martin Bash Kamara visiting his political root (APC North America) to identify with supporters of the APC party.
Taking the stage was Yabom Thaslim Koroma, President –Elect of the Washington, DC Chapter. Yabom with an aura of charismatic enthusiasm and leadership euphoria energizes the audience with accolades of optimisms for the APC party under the leadership of President Ernest Bai Koroma. He welcomed Honorable Martin Bash Kamara for honoring the APC Washington, DC chapter dinner and dance party. Yabom said the Washington DC, APC chapter under her leadership will reach out to all Sierra Leoneans irrespective of their political affiliations. She stressed that the APC Washington, DC Metropolitan chapter will identify with APC supporters and Sierra Leoneans in times of sadness and happiness and will galvanized strategically to ensure the success of His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma and the APC party. Finally Yabom calls on APC supporters in North America to unite and form a force that is hard to reckon with politically.
Mr. Osman Conteh former Chairman of APC North America introduced and welcome Honorable Martin Bash Kamara to the occasion, he outlined the achievements of the honorable educationally and politically. He said the achievement of Honorable Martin Bash Kamara is based on his commitment as a former secretary general of the APC in North America and supporting the APC party when things were difficult during the time Sierra Leoneans where under the rule of the SLPP party. He called on all patriotic Sierra Leone to support President Ernest Bai Koroma in his quest to develop Sierra Leone.
The Honorable Martin Bash Kamara took the stage. Prior to his speech, the hall was mesmerized with dancing and chanting of APC slogans. Honorable Martin Bash Kamara thanked the APC Washington, DC Metropolitan chapter for organizing the dinner and dance on his behalf. He outlined the improvements that is going on in Sierra Leone under the leadership of President Ernest Bai Koroma among which includes the restoration of power through the Bumbuna Hydro, improvement of the agriculture sector, the re-opening of the iron ore mines in Lunsar, the building of highways in major town and cities and the improvement of the health sector wherein pregnant women and children under five receives free medical care among others. Honorable Martin Koroma call on Sierra Leoneans to return home and invest in meaningful areas that will enhance development and pride for Sierra Leone. He concluded by encouraging Sierra Leoneans that the development of Sierra Leone depends on all Sierra Leoneans because that is the only country we call home in spite of the good things we enjoy in the Diasporas.
Responding to the call of Sierra Leoneans to return home and contribute to the development of Sierra Leone, Dr. Augustine Alusine Kamara, Assistant Director of Operations of the West African Medical Center on behalf of Dr. Sidikie Bangura, Director of Operations, outlined the importance of the West African Medical Center which will be built in Sierra Leone. He urged Sierra Leoneans to support the project because it will be a tertiary medical center that will address all areas in the medical field. He reiterated that the West African Medical Center will be moving forward with the development of other elements which is long overdue in Sierra Leone and the West African community.
The vote of thanks was given by Solomon Kargbo (Alias Solo) Organizing Secretary of the APC Washington, DC Metropolitan chapter, he urged all attendees to enjoy themselves with melodious tunes of African and Reggae music.
