Joseph Conteh retained as Chairman in Norway
Financial expert Joseph Conteh (in photo) has retained his position as Chairman of the Sierra Leone Union in Norway after he was unanimously elected by his compatriots.
Conteh currently owns an accounting company in Norway established and registered both in Norway and the United Kingdom since 2003.
He has served in that position since 1988 and in consideration of his hard work and love for country as well as his tremendous sacrifices for his compatriots in Norway, he was re-elected at a general meeting held on Sunday 10th, October, 2010.
This was in consideration of his significant role played in creating massive awareness about Sierra Leone`s brutal civil war to the International Community.
”He successfully organised public demonstrations in Norway to draw the attention of the world about the plight of his country as well as seeking peace and assistance for our country,” confirmed a Sierra Leonean residing in Norway.
Conteh is also said to be the brain behind the establishment of the Norwegian Refugee Council and FORUT in Sierra Leone.
Joseph Conteh had previously worked at the Ministry of Works, the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Education and later at the West African Clearing House in Sierra Leone before securing a government scholarship for further studies abroad.
He currently holds a Masters Degree in Business Economics and Marketing (MBM) from the Norwegian Graduate School of Management, the Business Economics Institute (BI) with a speciality in finance and accounting.
He is one of the few Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora making meaningful contributions back home especially in his home town of Mamaso in the Tonkolili District.
The Sierra Leone Union in Norway is the umbrella organisation for all Sierra Leoneans residing in that country.
